1st Annual Independence Day Parade

Here is the grand marshall of the Independence Day Parade.  Micah Jean Welch was the head of the parade committee and she did an excellent job of getting props, decorating floats, and creating excitement with the general public.  This year's parade was well-attended and Micah will be called on again to organize more parades at the cabin.  This was the best part of the 4th of July celebration.  Micah has flags from the USA and Alaska in her hair.  Well done, grand marshall!

Mariah Kay Welch started the parade with the USA Flag and her pet giraffee.  She kept the pace steady and was a great leader for the other entries in the parade.  Mariah was inspiring to watch.  We even had a few in the crowd with tears in their eyes as she passed.  We have a wonderful country to live in and we should all appreciate the freedoms we enjoy here.

The next entry in the parade was Jared and Koria Black.  Koria was wearing a stunning cape made from her blanket and she adorned her hair with the Arizona and Idaho state flags.  She has visited both of these states and really represented these states well.  Her father Jared spent hours before the parade getting his hair ready.  He even used palm trees for decorations on his 4-wheeler.  They did a great job and tied for first place according to Grandpa Bates.

Next came the absolute highlight of the parade.  Tyler Scott Welch was given the assignment of being the only person in the parade to throw out candy.  We all know that candy is the only reason we attend parades, so you can imagine the cheering which took place as Tyler passed by the spectators.
Excellent job in the candy department Tyler.

Our only motorcycle to participate in the parade was driven by Derek Edwin Bates.  He did a great job decorating his entry in the parade.  We gave him the "Spirit of Independence" award for his lovely entry.  Thanks Derek for being such a good sport and helping Micah out.
We all appreciated your entry and you tied for 1st place also.  Good Job!!!

The last entry in the parade was Micah, Kimball, and Becky on the final 4-wheeler.  This was a great ending to a wonderful parade.  All the participants were having a fun time waving to the crowds.  Micah felt it was her responsibility to end the parade that she organized.  We are all grateful to those who participated in and supported this Independence Day Parade.  Oh, Grandpa Bates also said that we tied for 1st place.

Luke & Layne Black were given honorable mentions in the parade, also.  They were prepared to step in if anyone dropped out of the parade at the last minute.  Thank you Luke and Layne for your patience and generosity.  We appreciate the time and effort you both took in order to be prepared for this event.  Thanks go out to Kendra & Jared Black for having them here, also.  We would also like to thank Wendy Welch for bringing up the wigs for the parade.
We also would like to thank Scott Welch, Grandma Bates, and Kendra Black
for taking pictures so I could share this with you.

If you would like to enter next year's parade, please contact Micah Jean Welch.
She will give you the details for the 2011 Independence Day Parade.

Oh, man, those shots are great. I will have to get copies from you next time we are up. I have to admit, that was the BEST parade that I have ever had the honor of attending. Definately a highlight of the whole trip, and loved your commentary too. That pic of Micah in the sunglasses rocks!

The parade was great. We need one at least every year or even more.
